Once again, I have chosen to do this project including a turtle. I started this project out like all project, I did a sketch first. Then I got a piece of paper that was the size of the styrofoam and drew my turtle out on it. I cut out a piece of cardboard for the wave pattern so that they would all be evenly apart and the same size and shape. I then used a x-acto knife to cut my design into the styrofoam. Once I had my outlines on the styrofoam, I began to use carving tools, like pumpkin carving tools, to cut out all the individual pieces. Once all the pieces were cut out I used fine grit sandpaper and sanded down the edges to a slight curve and placed then in the frame I had made so I wouldn't lose anymore pieces. Finally I painted the background first a green and blue gradient. Next the shell and lastly the turtle's body orange to help the red in the purple pop and the yellow in the green pop. This project was messy from the styrofoam dust but I am pleased with the final result.
