For Wood Carving Relief I carved an American Flag version of a Vineyard Vines Whale. To begin with I sketched out my design then, I did a charcoal transfer and then began to carve out the background of the whale. Carving was tough and hard work, but it was fun and I enjoyed it. Once the background was carved out, I carved the lines for the red and "white" stripes to add dimension. Now that everything is carved out, I painted, stained, and polyurethaned the piece of wood. I wouldn't really change anything.
